Fall Quarter Maintenance

Relocate john-luther to Critical Rack Cluster
Affected Hosts:
- john-luther.ics.uci.edu
- ldap3.ics.uci.edu (john-luther-v0.ics.uci.edu)
- gitlab.ics.uci.edu (john-luther-v1.ics.uci.edu)
Reason: Relocating server to rack with emergency power.
Impact:
- gitlab will be unavailable during this period.
OS Maintenance
Affected Hosts: All ICS and IGB CentOS6/7 hosts.
Reason: Patching multiple critical vulnerabilities that can lead to loss of sensitive information and allow attackers to preform trivial DDOS exploits.
- Kernel Side-Channel Attack using L1 Terminal Fault: CVE-2018-3620 and CVE-2018-3646
- Segmentsmack TCP implementations vulnerable to Denial of Service: CVE-2018-5390
Impact:
Kernel packages updates are required to mitigate these vulnerabilities. New kernel packages will be installed to all CentOS6/7 followed by a reboot to load the new kernel.

KEA DHCPD Server Release
Affected Hosts: ICS Hosts using DHCP
Reason: Upgrading to ISC KEA DHCP Server.
Impact: Clients should not experience any interuption in service.
Gitlab Server Downtime

- DATE: September 17, 2018
- START TIME: 0800
- DURATION: 2 hours

AFFECTS:
During this downtime window, the ICS Gitlab server will be unavailable.
REASON:
The GitLab server will be updated to the latest security release, 11.1.2.
